John Bestfather

John brings over 12 years of experience of pre-hospital medicine encompassing ground and air transport across Canada. Progressing through primary, advanced, and critical care John is comfortable with medical emergencies on the street, in ICUs, or in remote backcountry areas. The mindset of continual learning, skill advancement, and effective response systems have seen John respond in a variety of scopes of practice as a solid practitioner and as a team leader helping organizations improve.

 

This experience has allowed John to bring a fresh and practical working knowledge to his favourite environment, the wilderness. John has enjoyed teaching wilderness medicine and being integrated into various rescues to provide care in backcountry emergencies. 

 

This foundation of knowledge allows John to provide medical preparation and coverage for expeditions and small team athletic pursuits. This can encompass packing effectively in modular systems, setting up rear-link communication strategies, developing EAPs with businesses, training, communicating with online physician support, giving team safety briefings, responding to emergencies, or doing check ups. This all contributes to risk mitigation and preparation in any adventure John is a part of.
